It has been reported in the national press that the Blackpool Doctor Who Museum is to close on 8th November for the last time with the collection redistributed to other Doctor Who Exhibitions around the UK.
This is truly sad news, and (at first) I thought it was a wind-up, but after some meticulous research I have confirmed it is indeed correct.

Yes it is true that the Doctor Who Museum is to close, however it is unclear what will happen to the Exhibits, although there is talk of some of the costumes being redistributed, I have heard that the closure its actually part of a BBC Re-brand and most of the exhibits face a fate far less glamorous; an auction room, a dusty warehouse and sadly even the rubbish dump, how the BBC can re-brand and "delete history" in this manner beggars belief, when the doctor who museum closes its doors on the November 8th 2009 it will be a sad day for Blackpool, a devastating blow for the Doctor Who Exhibition staff and a slap in the face for Doctor Who fans across the globe, you can visit the Doctor Who Customer Comments blog here: www.DoctorWhoBlackpool.com this is not a BBC site and you can leave any comments about this closure.
